ARBOR DAY
Arbor Day is dedicated to a large group of our large friends. The trees. Not just the popular trees, all trees. I love trees. They do many things we aren’t aware of. I think I am lucky to live where I do because of the trees. They surround my house and are quite beautiful. The trees provide shade, homes for many animals, hiding spots, and great game settings. Trees also produce oxygen. When I go for a walk you most likely will find me some where that involves trees in a good way. My favorite place to be is in a tree.
Many people don’t see the problem with cutting down trees. When a trees is growing, which takes a long time, if someone cuts it down, which can take minutes, there is no possible way to put it back together. (Sorry no tree glue) Whenever my family or I cut down a tree, we try to plant at least one more. Trees also die from air pollution. Close your eyes and pretend you are a tree that is planted near the road. Every time a car goes past you cough and choke. You feel a searing pain in one of your branches. You realize someone is cutting off your limbs for fun. Now how do you like chopping down trees for sport? You might ask how you are supposed to get firewood. I think you can still cut down trees if you need firewood, but like my family, you should plant trees too. You also could buy an electric car, to cut down on air pollution.
We can thank Julius Sterling Morton for such a perfect idea, a holiday for trees! Arbor Day is to me is just as important as Independence Day, because it is an Independence Day for trees. Trees may seem annoying if you have to demolish them for a building, but they deserve recognition. I think Morton would be proud of how far we have come. Trees are useful. As I showed you before, putting yourself in the trees’ shoes once in a while could make a HUGE difference. If you plant a tree once a year water it one –two times a day, until it is big. Even just one tree can make a difference. Whether it’s Pine or Cottonwood, Spruce or Dogwood. Only one or two or, if you really want to, FIVE! Trees are very important. You can make a difference. All you have to do is try.
