Sacagawea

Click on the link above, if you do you can go and put Sacagawea together in a Sliding Puzzle!  In our class we read a story called, “Name This American.”  The story is about a lot of famous people doing amazing things.  Some of the people were Sacagawea, Gutzum Borglum, Dolley Madison, Liliuokalani, Walter Hunt, and much more.  The plot was a game show and the panelist had to guess who the mystery person was.  The panelist would ask questions to figure out who the mystery guest is.  If the panelist guessed right then they got fifty dollars, but if the mystery guess stumped all of the panelist then they got five-hundred dollars!

We had to pick one of the people from the story, I picked Sacagawea as you can tell.  We had to write a couple paragraphs about what they did and why we thought they were important.  The information I found about Sacagawea is something like this: She is famous for leading Lewis and Clark, and she was their Principal Guide to help them find their way in their expedition.  I bet you already knew that! Thank you for reading!

I hope you can figure out my puzzle!

Dolley Madison was the first lady. Madison was born in 1768. Madison’s first husband was John Todd, he was a lawyer, she had two sons. Dolley’shusband and one son died in 1793. Dolley had met and married a Congressman, James Madison. In 1809 she became the first lady! Dolley is interesting because she was first lady, she was courageous and brave. Dolley inspires me and that’s why she is important to me!

Walter Hunt Inventor

Walter Hunt The Inventer jigsaw puzzle game » jigsaw puzzle

I found this picture and decided it was easiest to see. These are my reasons for picking Walter Hunt out of  Name this American:

I chose Walter Hunt because he was not very well known. I also find inventors interesting. Even thought the safety pin ( Walter’s invention ) is very small, it has many uses. Also, many people use or have used Walter Hunt’s invention. I noticed that he thought for a long time and then finished the real thing in only a few hours ( which is very fast!!! ). He also patented it so no one could take his idea and say it was theirs. He was interesting and I want to learn more about him.

This Puzzle was fun to make and I liked doing this.

My Dolly Madison Puzzle

I think the most interesting person was Dolly Madison because she was married to the 4th president of the United states, James Madison. She is important because she was the first lady in 1809. I also think a few more facts are interesting. Like before the Brittish burnned down the White House she mannaged to save a picture of George Washington before it was gone. Also she said one of her favorite days was when she served icecrem to the guests for the first time. So that`s why I thought Dolly Madison was the most interesting

My favorite person from “Name This American” was Gutzon Borglum, because he carved Mt. Rushmore and I’m into that kind of stuff. Mt. Rushmore is a famous landmark that I enjoy. Sometimes I might compare him to Walt Disney because he also died before the famous landmark was finished too. Borglum is a famous that I enjoy, you should too.

My Sacagawea Slideing Puzzle

I chose Sacagawea because I love Indian history. Sacagawea’s name means Birdwoman in Shoeshone. She was captured by enemy Indians and sold to a French-Canadian trader. She also helped Louis and Clark on their expadition to the Louisiana Territory in 1804. Plus she helped as an interpreter. She had many things named after her. This information is from the story “Name This American” by Hannah Reinmuth
